Mixed Methods Research

Mixed-methods research, which means using both qualitative and quantitative methods and procedures, is governed by specific considerations in all schools at Capella University. Mixed-methods research is complex and arduous, and can require special permissions, additional coursework, and a mentor with expertise in mixed methods. Further, mixed-methods dissertations usually take longer, and therefore are more costly both in time and money.

Each of the Capella doctoral schools has specific requirements for learners wishing to pursue mixed designs. Follow these steps to access the requirements:

  1. Go to iGuide.
  2. Go to Research at Capella.
  3. Click on Research in Your School in the navigation menu on the left, and then on the appropriate school name.
  4. On the Research page for your school, open the Acceptable Methods Document and review the requirements for mixed methods.
